Wait, Before You Go, #WriteBravely

If we were having coffee, I might recite this haiku…

Wait, before you go
Savor friends and sip of stress
Become family

I created the image shown above for a post a few years ago. SeeWait, Before You Go.”

Today, I am reblogging content I created years ago, because I am sick and tired. Seriously, I am not feeling well, and it is getting late. I have to get up early tomorrow for work. And, I doubt my readers will notice the redundancy. I appreciate your understanding.

I am taking part in The Write Tribe Festival of Words #6. Day 7 of the Write Tribe Festival of Words #6 and today’s prompt is: Day 7 (11 Aug/Fri) – ‘If we were having coffee…….’

This is the last day of the festival and writing challenge. I may not post for a while, so in the meantime, heed my words…

Wait, before you go, write bravely.

Planning to #Write Bravely

The doodles above are from posts I wrote back in 2010 and 2011. Looking at the level of detail in “Monday Night’s Busy Blues,” it seems I may have had my sh*t together on that day.

It’s Monday morning, and the annoying melody crescendos while Steph struggles to find her phone.

“Where is that frickin’ thing?”

Steph finds the buzzing monster buried deep in the covers by her feet.

She considers her schedule for the day, “Today, I need to workout on the elliptical machine, pack my lunch, pack my son’s lunch, take a shower, brush my teeth, get ready for work, drive to work, call ABC, do XYZ, drive home, fix dinner, clean up, do a load of laundry…”

Pausing, she thought about her plan to write bravely in the Festival of Words, a blogging challenge hosted by busy bunch of people over in Mumbai at Write Tribe.

“Ack! When am I going to find the time to draft the post for Day 4 and follow the prompt to ‘feature a day in your life or someone else’s life?'”

This is when Steph realized that she could have saved the fabulous free verse she wrote with luxurious abandon during her vacation this past weekend for today’s blog post.

“Ugh.”

Steph rolls over and falls back to sleep.

Spending the Day at Del Mar #WritingBravely

Ocean spray, Palomar air, preferred parking.

Thoroughbred club, Kentucky turf, gates open.

Pearl-snap shirts, weathered jeans, shit kickers.

Collared shirts, linen shorts, boat shoes.

Printed tees, cowboy boots, straw hats

Silk sheaths, feathered bonnets, scuffed pumps

Chestnuts, at the post, down the stretch, five and a half furlongs.

Claims race, blinkers on, filly stakes.

Parimutel, exacta box, pick 3.

Jockeys, trainers, owners.

Buy the race, in the money, he wagers.

With patience, yet lonely, she waits.

Appreciating My Treasure and #WritingBravely

Beheld by their splendor, I sat still, gazing at my treasure. Though not mine to truly possess, each provided me with an innate value and enduring promise. Their inner light danced in the summer sun just to catch my breath. My gale swelled with love for these smokey sapphire and golden-flecked gems. As their eyes met mine, my rich soul beamed back. Family is truly a treasure.
