Pious, French, fighter
Tried for heresy, retried
Charred beauty to saint

Haiku and photos by a passing observer, Stephanie Abbott. Sculpture, plaque, and piety provided by the grace of others.

Monday, April 17, 2017. Today, I snapped this picture of a painted statue of Saint Joan of Arc that stands in front of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lucky for me, today happens to be National Haiku Poetry Day. Tonight, I wrote this haiku in honor of the anniversary of her beautification (April 18, 1909 at Notre Dame de Paris by Pope Pius X).
